Sweethearts are heart-shaped candies sold around Valentine’s Day. The New England Confectionery Company produces eight billion a year due to staggering popularity. Daniel Chase was the first to print sayings on the hearts in the 1860s.  These saying were usually witty and were typically used during weddings. (“Married in pink, he will take a drink.”) Over the years, new sayings have originated and these sweethearts still have a place in today’s culture.

Prodigy: ‘Luv U 4 Ever.’

             Through this pop culture reference, it is clear that Young wanted to establish a sense of innocence in the young, enthusiastic prodigy.  While the other personalities utter statements linked with negativity, the prodigy is full of life and optimism.  Throughout Glenn, we are given the idea that most of Gould’s life was full of hardships and difficulties. However, Young makes sure to give an accurate representation of the entirety of Gould’s life, which did include carefree and peaceful moments.
